Timber!

Today I felled a +/- 9 m tall linden tree. With a little help of my grandfather. I'm too tired to write down anything about it, so I'll let the photos tell the story.

New case

Last friday I bought a new computer case: a second-hand silver CoolerMaster Stacker STC-T01. Why? because my old case (a white AOpen H700A) was getting rather crowded, especially the space between the power supply and the disks.

Now I have one Stacker, one 4-in-3 Device Module, two 120mm fans, one 80mm fan, and two 350W power supplies with the green wire and ground linked so they both switch on at the same time.

Yesterday, I transferred the contents from one case to the other. I kept my trusty Hiper 580W power supply, though (I have no need for 700W of power). The stacker has much more space to put stuff in: it's 10cm deeper than the H700 and it has no rear drive bay, so there is no problem of cables protruding into each other.

The inside sure looks better now:

The front also looks neater:

I recently had to buy a new DVD drive because the old one broke down. Luckily, it it came with both a white and a black front cover, so I just had to switch covers for the drive to blend in.
I also had to get rid of my floppy drive, for which there was no adapter; besides, the drive had a white, non-replacable cover, so it wouldn't fit in with the black anyway.

One tremendous advantage of this new case, beside the looks, are the 120mm fans and the noise they don't make. For the first time in a long while, I can hear the crunching of my disks instead of the whining of five 80mm fans.
